Editorial Standards and Methodology

Palm Oil Pathway exists to bring the full, honest story of palm oil to a global audience, not the partial picture most people get from either side of the debate. That only works if you can trust what’s on this page. Here’s exactly how content gets made, checked, and corrected.

How Articles Get Written

Every article starts from one of two places: firsthand experience growing up in a palm oil community in Ngwa land, Abia State, or a genuine question readers deserve an honest, well-researched answer to.

From there, I research it properly. Where a topic touches on nutrition science, industrial processing, environmental impact, or market data, I read the relevant studies and reputable publications directly rather than relying on secondhand summaries, and I cite what I find.

Where an article is built on personal or cultural experience, how my community harvested, processed, and used palm oil, I say so plainly in the piece.

You should never have to guess whether you’re reading “this is established research” or “this is what I’ve seen and lived.”

How Health and Sustainability Content Is Handled

Palm oil sits at the center of two genuinely contested conversations: its health profile and its environmental impact. On both, I do not take sides for the sake of a clean narrative.

On health topics, saturated fat content, red palm oil’s nutritional profile, comparisons to other oils, I lean on cited nutritional research and clearly mark it as such.

Where the evidence is mixed or contested, I say so directly rather than presenting false certainty in either direction.

On sustainability and environmental topics, deforestation, RSPO certification, land use, I engage the criticism honestly rather than dismissing it, and I cite the research and reporting behind any claim I make, whether it favors or challenges the industry.

Sourcing Standards

When I cite a claim, it comes from a reputable publication, peer-reviewed research, a recognized industry or environmental body, or a source I can trace back to a credible origin, not forums, unverified blogs, or industry PR presented as independent fact.

If I can’t verify a claim properly, it doesn’t go in the article, even if it would make the piece stronger.

Fact-Checking and Updates

Articles are reviewed for accuracy before publication. Beyond that, content on the Palm Oil Pathway isn’t static.

Where new research, market conditions, or sustainability standards change the picture, I update the article and note when it was last revised.

Corrections Policy

If something on this site is factually wrong, outdated, or misleading, I want to know. Email me directly at chimeremeze@palmoilpalm.com with the article and the issue.

Genuine corrections are verified and made promptly, without defensiveness.

Independence

Palm Oil Pathway does not take sides in the global palm oil debate, but it does take accuracy seriously.

This site is not funded by or affiliated with any palm oil industry body, RSPO, or advocacy organization on either side of the sustainability conversation.
